Microsoft Flight Simulator Handbook

by Jonathan M. Stern

The Newfangled Way

It should come as no surprise to anyone reading this book that flight planning in this day and age is frequently done by computers. The airlines and many corporate flight departments have been doing it for years, and the general aviation community is now catching up. The market carries several flight planning software packages for general aviation aircraft.

In this section, several flight-planning software packages are reviewed, some of which are specifically for use with Flight Simulator, others of which are designed for flying real aircraft. Interestingly, the products designed for use with Flight Simulator are not significantly different from the real-life flight planners.
