The Official F-19 Stealth Fighter Handbook

by Richard Sheffield

4 Air-to-Ground Tactics

Missions involving air-to-ground action, whether it's bombing or photographing, are the reason the Stealth Fighter was developed. Sure, there are times when air-to-air missions might be called for and it certainly must be able defend itself, but there are many other aircraft much better suited to the air-to-air role.

Accurately delivering air-to-ground weapons requires skill, practice, and knowledge. The symbology used on the Heads-Up Display (HUD) will change with various types of weapons, so you should practice in training mode with all of the various weapons. By doing this, you'll know what to expect when you start your approach to the target. Few things can ruin a bombing run quicker than the appearance of a bunch of unfamiliar symbols on your HUD.
