About The Author

Jonathan M. Stern practices law with the Maryland-based firm of Hepfer & Stern, LLC. He is a graduate, magna cum laude, of the American University's Washington College of Law and of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Mr. Stern holds Federal Aviation Administration-issued commercial pilot (single and multi-engine airplane); instrument, single-engine, and multi-engine flight instructor; advanced and instrument ground instructor; and air traffic controller certificates. He is a trial lawyer and has spent the majority of his legal career handling aviation and insurance matters.

Mr. Stern is the author of Flying On Instruments With Flight Simulator (COMPUTE! Books 1987), the "Under The Hood" column in MicroWINGS Magazine, and a variety of articles on legal and aviation topics, including pieces published in Flying and Litigation magazines. He lives in Rockville, Maryland, with his wife, Joy, and his children, Jason and Jessica.
