The water between you and Runway 31 at Atlantic City International is indeed the Atlantic Ocean, at Absecon Inlet. The beaches won't be crowded in Atlantic City this early in the year, but the casinos will be going full tilt. If, after you land, you go into town, you may want to walk the streets made famous by the board game Monopoly. It was invented here during the depression of the 1930s, and the avenues you buy and sell in the game are named after those of the real Atlantic City. The Miss America Pageant is held annually, of course, in Convention Hall, the largest building in the state. The famous eight-mile-long Boardwalk provides access to the many amusement piers, and you can still be pushed along it in the rolling chairs that were introduced here more than a hundred years ago. Elevation at ACY is 76 feet.

One final and personal note: Atlantic City was my destination on my first solo cross-country flight, from Totowa-Wayne Airport in northern New Jersey (that airport no longer exists). And guess what--I made it!
